Pearl of Wisdom The stars do not shine without darkness. Enjoy the small moments and take stock of the duality in life – for both the beautiful and the tragic have a lesson to teach you. What’s Your Unfair Advantage? My unfair advantage would be strength and uncommon resiliency in the face of crisis, chaos, and conflict. When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up? Why? As a young girl, I always knew I wanted to be in a helping profession. At the time, the choices were doctor, judge, etc., and did not include law enforcement. I chose law enforcement because I wanted to make an impact and did so by protecting vulnerable populations. Pearl of Wisdom We are all given innate talents in life and it is our responsibility to use those talents to better the world. When you are the best you can be, doing the work you were born to do, the whole world aligns and success naturally follows. When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up? Why? A combination of the Editor of Vogue Magazine and the Director of the Peace Corps (LOL). I have always loved fashion, travel, and writing and went to New York City in my 20’s to followmy dreams. I quickly found out the road to Vogue magazine was not in the cards for me, BUT did immerse myself at The Fashion Institute of Technology and got a job in the garment center. The Peace Corps component derives from the world travel I did (India, Bali, Taiwan, Korea, etc.) I saw people in need abroad and in the USA and felt a calling to assist in some way. I see now that the combo of passion and fashion was my destiny.
